Lessons on the Lake: An Educator's Guide to the Pontchartrain Basin (2nd edition)
Lessons on the Lake is the activity guide you've been waiting for! A variety of educational strategies based on "multiple
intelligences" were developed to challenge the creative and higher level thinking skills of students. These include
Verbal/Linguistic, Visual/Spatial, Logical/Mathematical, Musical, Bodily/Kinesthetic, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal,
and Naturalist.
This resource is full of activities that provide students with hands-on opportunities to experience and appreciate the
wonders of the Basin. It also teaches skills to identify environmental concerns, make decisions, solve problems, and
acquire a strong sense of stewardship. The second edition of Lessons on the Lake was released in Spring 2002 and is
available to teachers in the Pontchartrain Basin free of charge.

Reclaiming Our Heritage: An Educator's Guide to Alligator Bayou and the Spanish Lake Basin
In the fall of 2001,LPBF and the Bluff Swamp Wildlife Refuge/Alligator Bayou Tours completed the production of this
curriculum guide about Alligator Bayou and the Spanish Lake Basin. Included in the guide are lessons about the geology,
hydrology, ecology, cultural history, and land-use in the Spanish Lake Basin. The guide targets junior high and high school
students in the tri-parish area of the Spanish Lake Basin, which includes Baton Rouge, Iberville, and Ascension Parishes.
The guide was developed to supplement student field trips to Alligator Bayou.

multidisciplinary source of information on the Lake and its surrounding 4,700 square-mile Basin. The Atlas covers
geology, land use, habitat, biological resources, and water quality. This book is available in public and university libraries,
