Recreation In The Basin
The Lake Pontchartrain Basin stretches
from lush hardwood forests and slow
flowing rivers of the north shore to the
bayous, swamps, lakes and sounds
leading to the Chandeleur Islands.
From the fisherman making his way through the early morning fog to the
kayaker slowly making her way through the spring irises, to the family picnicking along the shores of Lake Pontchartrain, the Basin is an environment to experience and cherish.
LPBF and its partners have restored many of the waterways and habitats of the
Pontchartrain Basin so they are once again a resource for recreational opportunities.
