LPBF's Beach Sweep 2006 presented by Toyota a HUGE Success
On Saturday, September 16 LPBF hosted the 17th annual Beach Sweep putting over 2,100 people on the streets around Lake Pontchartrain to clean street curbs and storm drains. Based on 17 lbs of trash per bag, 37,000 lbs of trash were picked up and 147 miles were covered. This was by far our most successful Beach Sweep ever! Over 800 volunteers joined LPBF at Pontchartrain Beach for a picnic, with food provided by Outback Steakhouse. Thanks to our sponsors and the many groups who participated. (Please see our website for the list of sponsors and participants.)

Close to 350 patrons joined LPBF for the 14th Annual Save Our Lake “Let’s Make Waves” Party and Silent Auction on Saturday, October 7th at the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum & Research Center in Madisonville.
Sheila Ehren, LPBF Event & Outreach Director said, “Local businesses were wonderful to us by donating an array of auction items and gift certificates and restaurants pulled out all the stops, providing our guests with a wonderful display of delicious foods.”
Partygoers enjoyed a fun night of fabulous foods, cocktails, dancing to the music of Benny Grunch and The Bunch, and the chance to bid on many exciting silent auction items. Plan to join LPBF in 2007 for another exciting event!
