Ashley Marie Kelly Swim Safety Program
WHEN: Monday July 24 – Friday, July 28, 2005
WHERE: Tulane University Reily Center Located on the McAlister Extension off Willow St. in New Orleans WHO: Anyone age of 5 and over
WHAT: a FREE week of 45 minute classes teaching water safety, litter awareness, and American Red Cross swimming lessons.
REGISTRATION: begins July 5th. Call 504-836-2238, give your name, contact phone number, age of participant. Lessons at 9am, 10am, 11am & 12pm.
TO BRING: Come in a swimsuit and bring a towel. This Swim Safety Day and lessons are a partnership event sponsored by the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation, the American Red Cross, Tulane University, and The Ashley Marie Kelly Foundation. Something to Celebrate!
The 2006 Back to the Beach Festival broke all past attendance records. Over 12,000 folks joined us for two days of great music, beautiful lake views, education and fun! To thank all those who contributed to this year’s success, we will hold our 17th annual Patron Party and Silent Auction on Saturday June 24, 2006. With music by Bobby Cure and the Summertime Blues, patrons will enjoy a fun-filled evening of music, drinks, food, a silent auction and dancing, dancing and more dancing! Tickets are $50 per person. Carlton Dufrechou to speak to
the League of Women Voters of St. Tammany
A public meeting will be held on June 21, 2006 starting at 6:30 p.m.
at the St. Tammany Parish Council Chamber at 21490 Koop Drive. Our
principal speaker will be Carlton Dufrechou, Executive Director of the
Lake Pontchartrain Basin Foundation discussing the Pontchartrain Coastal Lines of Defense Program. Central to this plan is the deauthorization and closure
of the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet. Invited to participate in the
discussion are state Senator Walter Boasso, who represents St. Bernard
Parish and Eastern St. Tammany Parish, Mark Davis, Executive Director
Gulf Restoration Network, which has advocated closure of the MRGO for
a very long time.
The League of Women Voters of St. Tammany extends an invitation to all
those concerned and interested in pursuing a plan that will make the
reconstruction and rehabilitation of homes and businesses safer and a
future for coastal parishes that restores the vitality of our seafood
industry and recreational fishing. Does that plan include the
Mississippi River Gulf Outlet ? Can we as a region restore our wetlands
